Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter 44 Magnum

I finally got my Blackhawk put together and sighted in. I haven’t been able to shoot like this in many years. Very happy and looking forward to getting this out into the field. I’ve included a few quick photos (final group at 25). I’ll try to get some better ones later (ran out of daylight).
I love the mount.
I did have a few issues getting it ready (Ruger quality issues) that you might be interested in. First, the top receiver/sight area was angled up about 5 degrees, so the mount was pointing off into space. Once I got that fixed (honed it flat and parallel to the barrel rib), I discovered the barrel and receiver were not aligned (the iron sight was always almost fully to the left). I was able to adjust the front screw hole in the mount and then get it shimmed into place parallel to the barrel. Then I drilled the hole for the cross pin. So everything is locked in tight and pointing in the right direction.

Update: I’ve spent a lot of hours in the field and introduced a lot of hogs to my Blackhawk Hunter since I installed your mount. I hardly ever take a rifle out anymore. Thanks again for the great product and for helping me get the Vortex sight at a great price. Couldn’t be happier with the setup.

Ruger Single Six 22LR
Dear Dan, reaching out to you today to thank you for [my] red dot mount for my Ruger New model, single six revolver. I noticed a few years back when I went to fire the revolver the sights were getting a little bit fuzzy. So I got it together and placed an order through Griffon Hill. Before installing the mount I read the instructions carefully and took notes, took my time and everything went smoothly. I used two shims and couldn’t believe how snuggly and such a precision fit. I was highly impressed.I installed a Holosun red dot sight and it was like having a new set of eyes. I told my shooting buddies about it and they are really considering purchasing from Griffon Hill. Dan I will recommend your mount to anybody at any age, well done!

Ruger Blackhawk 357 Maximum
This is my 357 maximum revolver that I have not been able to shoot because of my aging eyes I was not able too see the front sight, I was told by many men to sell the revolver and let someone else get some use out of it. I didn’t want to drill any holes in the top strap and was told that was the only way to put a red dot or scope on it, until now with the Griffon mount I am able too use my 357 maximum once again the revolver has always been very accurate and now is REALLY ACCURATE! The mount was done by my friend and also a gunsmith go figure he was very impressed with the mount also the shims that came with it no movement side to side at all and once original pin from the sight was installed it was locked down no movement at all this is a rock solid mount and for you older guy like me you be able to use your favorite revolver again thank-you Dan once again for making us older dogs able too use our handgun once again thank-you again and keep them all the X

First off I want to thank you for the great product. I recently purchased your mount for my Blackhawk in 45 Colt and so far it’s worked great, and the installation was a breeze. Attached below is a 20 yard, off hand, slow fire group using your mount with a Burris Fastfire 3. To say it works is an understatement.

Fit like a charm and rather than shim it, I used epoxy putty to fill in under and around the mount, which I drilled and pinned also. Its a .45 Colt RBH and I do feed it “Ruger only” loads when needed … I can’t wait to hit the range – and with any luck, use it on one of our big corn fed deer this season.

I did wind up drilling myself, freehanded. Made me nervous haha. Far as I can tell everything is working out great! Shooting needs practice but just got ammo delivered today. Pic would show a roughly 1” group at 50 yards had I not tried to hit the holes on 3rd shot.

Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Magnum
Hey Dan, just to let you know, I went and purchased a mount for my new Holosun from another website and it sucks. It does fit, and is loose as hell. I’m shimming it with tin foil to tighten it on the single mount screw. Gladly will replace it with a better model that utilizes the Ruger pin like yours does when your new design is ready. Great design, just wanted to give you some feedback as I do love the sight I bought with shake to wake, but I see why you wanted to make a better design. Thanks for your time chatting.

Ruger Single Six 22LR
I inherited a Ruger New Model Single Six 22 LR pistol with a 9.5″ barrel that my father purchased around 1980 or thereabouts. It is a sweet pistol that is a lot of fun to shoot. However, with my declining eyesight (I turn 64 tomorrow), I am not as accurate with it as I’d like to be, and the biggest problem is I have a hard time with the iron sights. It being such a small caliber, low capacity, and that 9.5″ barrel, there’s no way I’ll ever conceal carry it, so adding a red dot sight seems like the solution for me.
I just wanted to circle back and let you know how satisfied and happy I am with the mount. My gunsmith was also quite impressed with it. My revolver is much more enjoyable being able to aim effectively, and it really shows how accurate the Ruger (with its 9.5″ barrel) truly is!

Very pleased with the RMR mount. Your instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Based on your suggestion, I am having Diamond D Leather in Alaska build a holster for the Single-Six with your mount and a Holosun 507C on top of it. When I get the holster, I would like to try taking a picture of the gun / mount / sight / holster, and send it to you. I will also come up with a review (probably the best review is that I plan to purchase another of your mounts, again for a Single-Six (in 32 H&R, Bisley grip).

I just finished attaching your mount and my red dot to my GP100. It took more time than other mounts but thanks to your ingenuity I’ll be able to shoot this revolver again. Muscular degeneration has made iron sights unusable. I am impressed by the design, the quality of the mount and the detailed instructions. Good work!

Ruger Flattop 44 Special

Looks great. I will probably put it on my blue 4-5/8” Bisley 44 Special. That particular gun was the very first Bisley Flattop Ruger ever made. They made it for me in 2009 before we came out with the Bisley Flattops in 2010. I took my Flattop with your mount to the Shootists Holiday and ran it pretty hard for the week. Worked great and several of the guys really liked the design.
