If your optic is not listed above, please make sure it comes with the correct screws to fit the mount, or please contact us or the manufacturer for clarification on fitment. Example: Primary Arms SLx RS-10 does not come with the correct #6-48 screws.

From tree stand hunting, spot and stalk hunting, competing at the range, target shooting or plinking with the kids, this mount will allow you to use a red dot on just about any Ruger Revolver.

Ultra slim design at only 1/8” thick keeps the red dot as low as possible on the gun. By design our mount incorporates both the rear sight screw and rear sight cross pin. The only mount on the market that uses the rear sight cross pin for ultimate strength. Similar to magnum rifles with cross bolts through the stock, the recoil force transferred is shared among both points, ensuring a single screw is not responsible for solo duty. The cross pin also prevents any twisting or rotating of the mount, ensuring any bumps along the trail have no impact on changing your zero.

But the features don’t stop there. Our mount comes with a special Shim Pack designed to tailor fit the mount to your specific gun. We are talking adjustments as small as 0.001″! This level of fit has previously only been seen in custom gunsmith one off pieces that would costs hundreds of dollars.

Even though all these models use the exact same rear sight, the tolerance difference between them is fairly significant. Especially when you consider these guns have been made during a 50 or 60+ year timeframe. Having a mount that can twist or rock from side to side is not a step in the right direction. Expecting one screw to control all lateral movement of the mount under recoil is irrational. The first step to mitigate that is using the rear sight cross pin and the next step is using our Shim Pack. Being able to custom tailor the part to your specific gun means you have the best fitting mount possible.

“Anything worth doing, is worth doing right.” – Hunter S Thompson

If you are inclined to drill and tap your gun for an additional screw but can’t bear the thought of ‘defacing’ your precious six gun, don’t worry, you’re not alone. That’s why we made provisions for a second screw tucked inside the rear sight pocket. Especially for those shooting full house loads and big bores with monster recoil. Maintaining the original outward appearance of the gun is important to us, especially if you wanted to go back to open sights or preserve resale value.

*The cross pin location varies from gun to gun. As such the end user is responsible for drilling the mount to accept the cross pin. Please preview the instructions below for more info or seek the services of your gunsmith.*

Wish I had found Griffon Hill red dot mounts sooner. The mount works perfectly. Easy to install; just take your time and get the shims right. And the red dot sight is exactly what these old eyes needed on my revolver. I highly recommend it.

  2. Victor E Woltemath (Verified Buyer)

Very fine product! Fit was perfect. No shims required. Installation was a breeze. I can actually use this Bisley Blackhawk 45 Colt again. Sight picture with RMR is crisp. Thanks for making a quality product.

  3. JOSH SCHACHT (Verified Buyer)

This was not only easy, but it’s a super clean install and leaves you with a great looking highly functional mounting system for your red dot. Highly recommend, super happy with this item.

  4. Brian C. (Verified Buyer)

Great product. Mounted on a Bisley Blackhawk in .45LC with the intent of deer hunting out to 75 yards or so. Old eyes prevented me from using the original open sights. A rear peep helped some but not enough. Looking for alternatives to a heavy scope (one that could take the recoil of “Ruger Only” loads) and found a lot of good reviews on this product… and I had a Fastfire 3 on a range toy, so…

A little fitting to the underside to accommodate some rough machining by Ruger in the sight pocket, uneventfully drilled for the cross pin, and instead of shimming, I epoxy bedded the mount into the rear sight pocket, and let it cure for 24 hours. Removed the front sight for something to do in the mean time.

Range tested with max (for me) loads and was able to get my 50 yard groups down to about 4″, elbows rested. Good enough for me and after 30+ rounds, no shift in zero.

If needed, a little heat from a mini butane torch will soften the epoxy and allow removing the mount, preserving resale value etc. but I plan on keeping this space cowboy deer pistol!

The base arrived very quickly. Installation was a breeze. Very well made and fit was excellent.

  6. Clayton S. (Verified Buyer)

Mount seems very solid would definitely recommend

  7. Jeremy S. (Verified Buyer)

This mount is exactly what I have been looking for. It sits low on the pistol and installation was extremely easy. I have over 100 rounds of 405gr through it and it has held precisely.

  8. Michael (Verified Buyer)

Awesome product my local gunsmith recommended and installed. Now I can shoot my favorite pistol again. It gotten to where I couldn’t focus on the sights now with green dot optics I can see clearly.

  9. Anonymous (Verified Buyer)

Everything arrived as supposed to I had a gunsmith install 60 dollars he used metal shims he had instead of plastic came out fine shot gun grouped well out to 50 yards

  10. Jacob Whiting (Verified Buyer)

5 stars. its not everyday you get something so innovative for single action revolvers. very well made and on top of all that Dan is very receptive with customer concerns, problems, and satisfaction thank you again sir very nice product P.S. the primary arms slx rs10 does not come with the proper screws you will need to source new ones

  11. Thomas Mosca (Verified Buyer)

Very disappointed in the quality of the design. The recoil shoulder is a full 1/16″ away from making contact with the mating surface on the gun. The center of the bottom of the adapter is longer than the sides, so contact is made only on the center, like a teeter-totter. A stable configuration would be with the center shorter, so that the outer portion of the adaptor touches the gun on both sides. The only resistance to movement under recoil is the Ruger sight pin. This is in general a very poor design, and I will probably take it off and throw it away. Would prefer to get my money back, but don’t expect that to happen.

    • griffonhillusa (store manager)

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with the mount. It sounds like you need to do some fitting to get it to work on your particular gun. The mount should sit all the way forward and down on the top strap. I can assure you these mounts are held to very high tolerances, but occasionally they will require some fitting as Rugers can be hit or miss on their dimensions. That is life when dealing with mass produced guns over a 70 year timeframe. If you would like more assistance, please feel free to reach out, or your local gunsmith can assist you with the install.

  12. Earl M. (Verified Buyer)

I bought 5 of your red dot mounts so far and waiting on Ruger to return my Redhawk so I can use the 5th mount. Your mounts work great!

  13. Joseph M. (Verified Buyer)

Easily the best Red Dot Sight Mount available on the market today! I had been looking for a mount for over a year and wasn’t happy with the offerings I found. Once I saw this mount it was an easy choice. The instructions were clear, the install was easy, and the sight sits at a good height to be practical. If you have any doubts about mounting a red dot on your revolver, just do it, especially if you suffer with declining vision like I do but still love to shoot and/or hunt with your favorite revolver.

  14. James B. (Verified Buyer)

Very good fit , no modifications needed. Mounted an SRO on a Ruger SBHH and has held zero with plenty of elevation adjustments up or down !

    Shipping was fast.
The mount is well thought out, the material seems stout.
The install was a breeze in my garage. No special tools. Hand drill and a screw driver.
    Ruger Redhawk 4” 45 Colt .
I really didn’t see how several reviews made such a fuss of the install.
Thanks for a great product and a great American small business.

It seems to be a good product. I mounted it on a Ruger Super Blackhawk and so far, less than 50 rounds, it has maintained zero. Follow the directions and I recommend using a drill press.

  23. Randall Harris (Verified Buyer)

Perfect fit for my needs. Easy to install!

  24. Walter (Verified Buyer)

Installed per the instructions – no issues. No issues securing the red dot to the mount. No issues zeroing the red dot. The mount seems solid, but I’ve only shot 24 rounds. I’d buy one for my next application.

  25. Steve Graebner (Verified Buyer)

Dan, I took the mount to my retired gunsmith friend to properly fit it to the iron sight trough and then be able to drill the hole. He still has it. Looking forward to getting it back. I put a 3 only because I obviously have not been able to shoot it yet. I fully expect it to be a 5.

  26. Degen (Verified Buyer)

First time owning a site like this. (Holosun 502). After purchase I was pointed in the direction of Griffin Hill. Installed myself on my Super Blackhawk Hunter and have sighted in. Hasn’t disappointed and everything locked in solid and fairly simple. I’ll be doing business again as I have a Super Single Six I’m considering doing the same to. Definitely recommend going with GH.

Exactly what I was looking for. Fit and finish is perfect. Install was easy enough. Fits perfectly on my New model Ruger Blackhawk 41 mag. Would love to find one for my Dan Wesson 44 as well. Thanks for a great product. Without a red dot, my pistol shooting days are about over. This really made a difference for me.

  33. Richard King (Verified Buyer)

Easy to mount, so far holding zero.

  34. Lorne Ellickson (Verified Buyer)

Finally had some time to install my mount. Still haven’t had a chance to go out and test the optic. As I’ve gotten older it is becoming increasingly difficult to focus on iron sights and my Ruger Blackhawk 357 has always been my favorite pistol to shoot. Was about to just hang her in the safe when I found the Griffon Hill website. I reached out to Dan and he responded promptly to my questions about his mounts. I love that there is no modification to the firearm itself. I consider myself pretty handy but I don’t have a gun vise or drill press and I was still able to drill the mount with no problem. Dan’s instructions to take your time and work from each side are the trick. I thought the shims might be a problem, but they slide right into place. Everything feels solid and the mount looks like it came with the weapon.

  35. John R. (Verified Buyer)

Like most shooters I have found that red dots significantly improve accuracy. I have them on most of my guns but did not put one on my GP100 because I assumed there was no good of doing so. Then a friend told me about Griffon Hill. I bought the mount for a Holosun and with the help of some really good included instructions I had what felt like a new gun. The design and production are first class.

Thorough instructions. Easy to install. Shrank my groups to 25% of what I had been able to achieve.

  38. Jeffrey Jones (Verified Buyer)

Love this mount! As a machinist I appreciate fine work! I installed this on my Ruger Bisley in 41 magnum and it makes a wonderful package! The 230 grain bear loads approve as well! Installation was straight forward, instructions very clear but my recommendation would be a drill press or mill for proper hole alignment! Yes I broke a bit, my fault! I’ll be ordering another for my 480!

  39. Zane B. (Verified Buyer)

mount is well made and comes with clear instructions. mounted on my super blackhawk 44 magnum. has not lost zero even with full house 44 magnum loads. would definitely recommend this mount to anyone looking to put a red dot on their riger revolver.

  40. Anonymous (Verified Buyer)

Product is very well made, came with everything needed, and mounted up nicely without much trouble. Great product for someone that wants a red dot on their Ruger.

Unfortunately I quickly learned I really do not like a red dot on my revolver, partly due to worse than I thought astigmatism.

  41. David (Verified Buyer)

    easy to install, very secure.

  42. Jim T. (Verified Buyer)

I like the idea, I like the product. My eyes aren’t what they used to be for open sights. The bottom lug on your product needs to be longer. When I drilled the hole for the cross pin, it almost broke out. Other than that, no problems.

  43. Gordon Saltzman (Verified Buyer)

Well made product. Installation was easy just pay attention and take your time. Ruger SBH 480.

  44. Brian Foss (Verified Buyer)

Griffon Hill allowed me to bring life back to my dad’s ‘72 Ruger Single Six. I remember him purchasing it new in ‘72 when I was 8. He’d love shooting it now with Griffon Hill’s adapter and Holosun’s green dot. Thank you!

  45. Anonymous (Verified Buyer)

So with the Ruger having a similar, not exact, sight setup as the long cylinder BFR rear LPA sight I decided to try and make it work. 20 min with a metal file, drilled the cross pin, and so far so good. Held up to light ‘ish 460 reloads so far, will try higher PSI loads for hunting season. Happy with the design! Wish I waited for the RMR version 🙂

  57. Mark Dodge (Verified Buyer)

Just installed today. Appears to be a really solid setup. Put this on a Bisley.45 LC. Had two other brands before this that didn’t hold up to the recoil. This will solve my problem.

  64. Gary M. (Verified Buyer)

I had a gunsmith put it on for me. He said it took about five minutes. I zeroed it in and shot great groups with .357 hot loads. Stayed tight and on target.

  65. Kenneth O. (Verified Buyer)

Overall I’m happy with this sight platform from Griffon Hill.

    A few obsevations:

Use a drill press for the sight pin hole. Handheld drill can be difficult with broken bits and poor hole alignment.

Lots of variation on mounting holes on sights. This uses 6-48 x 7/16 – not easy to find… will need to trim longer screws. Check your sight thru-holes for size!!!!!!!!!! Mine pictured is from Primary Arms and had to open the holes to accommodate the size 6 screws. Voided warranty….

Haven’t shot it yet so jury is still out but expect it will perform well.

  67. Derrek (Verified Buyer)

    Fit and finish were excellent.
Installation instructions are step by step and easy to follow. Gunsmith installation is ALWAYS best, but you have the tools to do it IF you follow the instructions.
This product made ALL the difference with my shorter barrel Ruger SBH for short range hunting.

  68. Kevin (Verified Buyer)

Low profile makes for easy sight pickup. Still need to run heavy magnums, but so far I may order two more for other revolvers.

  69. Jay S. (Verified Buyer)

Product is well machined, finished, and designed. Was also shipped from the west coast to the east coast in two days. I cannot express how great the included installation instructions were. They were clear, concise, and made every aspect of the install painless. The only thing that could possibly improve this mount kit would be the inclusion of the 1/16″ drill bit, that would make it 6 out of 5 stars. Tweezers are immensely helpful in dealing with the shims. Installed the mount and a Vortex Venom on my new model Blackhawk. Over a hundred rounds later at max load levels or hotter and everything is still tight and true. Glad I spent a little more money to an American owned small business and received a product that will outlast me. Thanks!

I could not be more pleased with my new Griffon Hill Ruger revolver red-dot mount, well made & easy to install, what’s not to like?

  73. Bruce Axtell (Verified Buyer)

Fit very nice on the Security Six. Only .002 shims needed and were sure nice to have. Would like the ability to have a mount that uses the Shield type mount as I use Sig Romeo 0 sights a lot.

  74. Rod Stallings (Verified Buyer)

Got this for my Ruger Super Redhawk in 10mm. Install was simple enough and I mounted a Viper Venom on it. Plan to take it to the range this week, to give it a go. Really like the setup. Perfect for this gun in my opinion.
